Everybody in the world knows who the Lakers were after this trade deadline, just as everyone knows who they were willing to give up to get him.
There was no name (besides LeBron James) that was kept from the rumor mill, as the Lakers continued their assault for Anthony Davis. The leaks and rumors regarding the youngsters reportedly on the trade block created some tension in the locker room and might have some lasting effects for the franchise.
Some would say these talks are inevitable, as the Lakers should (and are) be willing to give up any and all members of their young core for a star like A.D. But if you ask Shaq, he’ll tell you different. When it comes to Kyle Kuzma, that’s one guy he wouldn’t let go for anything.
Shaq:”I’m never trading Kyle Kuzma.”
Kenny:”I like that.”
Shaq:”Everybody else can go.”
Since these new-look Lakers took the court to start the season, Kuzma has quickly emerged as a second option for the team on the offensive end. He’s averaging 18.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds on 46% shooting.
He’s been a solid closer, an efficient scorer, and an all-around borderline All-Star for the team this year. And, despite some arguments about his ceiling being lower, he’s proving to be the most valuable Lakers youngster of the bunch.
But to not include him in a deal for Anthony Davis? That’s a bold move…
