Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George is in the running for the 2019 NBA Most Valuable Player award this season along with Houston Rockets guard James Harden and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. George’s performance in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 148-147 2OT win over Utah on Friday, Feb. 22 may have him being the favorite.
George dominated in the victory, leading Oklahoma City with 45 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists on 17-of-31 shooting including the game-winning floater in 2OT. Teammate Russell Westbrook also led throughout the game with 43 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists but fouled out in the first overtime.
George turned it up in both overtimes, scoring in multiple clutch moments and even windmilling after a steal.
Many NBA stars across the league turned to social media to react to George’s performance. Some were thrilled by a gassed George windmilling in overtime, others were stunned his sky-high floater sunk for the win.
