Hield would ‘bet my house’ Kings make playoffs for first time since 2006

The Sacramento Kings have not been to the NBA playoffs since the 2006 season and entering play Saturday, they once again are on the outside looking in, standing ninth in the Western Conference standings.

The Kings (30-28) trail the eighth-place Los Angeles Clippers (33-27) by two games for the eighth and final playoff position in the West.

That, however, will be changing, according to Kings guard Buddy Hield. He and him teammates are “very confident” they are headed to the postseason.

“I’d bet my house on it,” Hield joked, according to Noel Harris of the Sacramento Bee.

“Very confident. I’d bet my house on it,” Hield said, then adding, “I make a lot of money to buy the next one.”

Hield had some fun when asked if he’d be willing to include his dogs in a bet about making the playoffs this season.

“You can’t bet your dogs,” Hield said. “I’m just confident. If I don’t say it, (the media) will say, ‘He’s not confident enough.’ That’s how I was raised. I trust in God, and hopefully, he favors us.”

Even though they stand ninth in the West entering Saturday night’s game at Oklahoma City (38-20).

“Everyone knows how dangerous we can be,” he said. “I like our chances, and I’d go to battle with these guys any day.”
